The polarization balance of M1/M2 macrophages plays an important role in regulating the inflammatory response during acute lung injury (ALI). YAP1 is a key protein in the Hippo-YAP1 signaling pathway, involved in macrophage polarization. The research conducted by Xu Wenyan's team at Guangzhou Medical University shows that YAP1 mediated M2 polarization can alleviate ALI. Inhibition of YAP1 may be a target for treating ALI.
The study was published on May 8, 2023 in the international journal MedComm, titled 'Inhibition of YAP1 activity ameliorates acute lung injury through promotion of M2 macrophage polarization'.
