Squamous cell carcinoma of head and neck (HNSCC) is a common malignant tumor with high mortality and incidence rate. Therefore, the team led by Professor Gao Yuzhang from Central South University established a risk scoring model using apoptosis related DNA methylation features, which can serve as an alternative tool for predicting the prognosis of HNSCC patients. SETD1B and MTDH are key genes in this model that may play important roles in the progression of HNSCC.
The study was published on November 30, 2023 in the international journal American Journal of Cancer Research, titled "Risk Model Guided Identification of MTDH Expression as a Marker for Ferroptosis Induction Therapy in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Cancer".
