Bovine respiratory disease (BRD) is one of the most common diseases in the cattle industry; It is a globally prevalent multifactorial infection mainly caused by co infection of viruses and bacteria. In China, Mycoplasma bovis (M. bovis) and bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BoHV-1) are the most significant pathogens associated with BRD. The team led by Professor Zhang Sen from Huazhong Agricultural University determined the most effective immunization dose by administering different doses of vaccines in a rabbit model. In summary, different doses of attenuated Mycoplasma bovis vaccine and labeled vaccine HB150 and BoHV-1 gG -/tk combined vaccine are safe in clinical practice in rabbits; The mixture of 2.0 × 108 CFU Mycoplasma bovis HB150 and 2.0 × 106 TCID50 BoHV-1 gG -/tk strains is the most promising because they have the highest humoral and cellular immune responses, and have a more complete lung tissue morphology compared to other strains. The results of this study determined the optimal immune dose for the attenuated and labeled BoHV-1 gG -/tk combined vaccine against Mycoplasma bovis HB150, laying the foundation for its clinical application.
